A proficiency for art has always been something that has eluded me. I was never someone who could draw anything more than random buildings or abstract cow prints (I grew up in NH what do you want?) I wanted so badly to be an artist. To have the ability to draw, to paint, to sculpt…to capture a moment in time - but I just couldn’t do it. I mean, my illustrations had all the appropriate pieces, and I guess they were in the appropriate places…but that’s about it.

It wasn’t until I started taking pictures that I realized
that while perhaps I couldn’t use my hands to paint or sculpt, I could
certainly use them to guide my eye.
Photography is such a personal art, as most are. I don’t pretend to think I am an amazing
photographer, or even a decent one - but every once in a while I get a good
one. Every once in a while I get one
that captures a moment, and more importantly, a moment that means something. My brothers’ wedding, sunsets in the desert, Louis’
first encounter with chocolate covered pears, my mother wearing an iron man
mask, my old man rolling laps with a new hip – I mean honestly, it is such an
amazing way to chronicle your life.

It has been two years.
I have taken at least one picture each day for two years, and I have so
many unbelievable memories. To those of
you who know me – I hope this next year is excellent, and I can’t wait for you
to be a part of it. For those of you who
don’t, I hope you enjoy the composition, lighting, and artistry blah blah blah. Welcome to One A Day – you are about to
embark on a year of moments…ridiculous, stupid, hilarious, awful and at the
same time, wonderful moments.
